Upcycled fashion for RY

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a passion for style, fashion, creativity & sewing.

I’ve always played dress up, drapped fabric on my body, DIYed clothing from watching YouTube channels like Bethany Mota & Mylifeaseva.

I spent a lot of time with my multi- talented Grandmother, playing in her sewing room for hours, infatuated with all the different fabrics she had collected, where I first learned to sew, creating dress up clothes with her.

Back in February, knowing Lindsay from shopping at “ Replacing You”, she asked me randomly one day if I knew how to sew, or maybe if I knew of anyone. I said ya actually I do.. ME!

That’s when the idea bloomed to create up-cycled, handmade, slow fashion w/ RY.

We Started collecting fabrics, patterns, & thrifted pieces that just don’t sell at large thrift stores.

I’d spent countless hours sewing in my bedroom closet with my tiny desk & second hand sewing machine from my Mother in law.

At the beginning on the year I told my mom that it would be really cool if one day I could create custom clothing pieces for people to purchase, never did I think I could be given the opportunity to do so.

Trial & lots of error later, I have created my first drop of Replacing You Handmade pieces!

To Lindsay for believing in my potential for this project and giving me a space to do so with RY.

To my Mom for the countless hours on FaceTime, trying to set up just the right angle so she could see exactly what I was doing wrong on my sewing machine, buying me tools you knew I needed but I didn’t ask for.

To Lori-Ann for gifting me my sewing machine when I first said that I might want to get into sewing, she picked it up right away no questions asked when I said it’s a passion of mine.

I am super proud of myself and excited for what the future holds.

Here’s to creating more & more !
